How Focusing on What You Want to See Could Get You Blacklisted (and why that’s a good thing)

Wah!

“If all you did was just look for things to appreciate you would live a joyous, spectacular life.” – Abraham Hicks

How many of your friends and family complain?  How often?  How often do they speak of what they appreciate in their lives? What they want to see?  Is that very limited?

Now, more importantly, how often do you focus on what you appreciate?  On what you WANT to see?

We are the sum of the people we surround ourselves with.  If you keep company with whiners, complainers, and drama queens, it’s going to rub off on you.  But wait! you say.  I can show them the light!  I can help them see that appreciation is the way to go!  I can help them turn their gaze toward what they are wanting to see in their lives.

While setting an example for others is noble and all, remember that story about leading a horse to water.  You can’t make that damn horse drink it!  So for all of your positivity, and grateful-minded ways, you can’t force someone else to be like you.

And the more you surround yourself with people who harbor negative mindsets, the more likely it is that that mindset will seep into yours and ravage what you’ve worked to build.

So, what’s a gal to do?

Walk.  Away.

When you’ve surrounded yourself with people who prefer to focus on a limited worldview (which is all complaining will give you), you may very well get blacklisted when you decide to start openly viewing the world through possibility lenses.  And I say, GOOD.

(There’s the Tweetspot!  ^^^ Tweet it out!)

It’s important to stand up for what you believe in, especially when something feels off or wrong to you.  But approach the battle from the perspective “how can this be better” as it will help you come up with infinitely more ideas that will guide you toward what you do want, than if you continue to bash what’s plaguing you.  Like, oh, those negative Nellies you may have surrounded yourself with.

How will it be better when your closest peeps are complaining curmudgeons?  When they aren’t your closest peeps anymore.

Try to distance yourself from at least one negative person in your life this week. See how good it feels. See how it opens up your own worldview. Magic starts to happen, my friend.

Love and light,

Melissa
