How to Shake Your Self-Reliant Thang

silhouette

“It’s not the Destination, It’s the journey.”   ― Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance

Self-reliance doesn’t mean going it alone, or doing everything by yourself.  Self-reliance means knowing you’ve got resources at your disposal. Everywhere. You are never backed into a corner.  The only time you are ever stuck is when you think you are.

Self-reliance means not being afraid of the outcome.  Knowing it will work out, one way or another.  Knowing that you can make any outcome workable.  Self-reliance is one sure way to bring about happiness.

A few ways to rev up your self-reliance engine:

1.  Reach out to (the right) friends for support.

Release the frustration.  Then, be productive. Don’t spend all your time complaining and fretting – that will only keep you stuck there.  Be careful to choose friends you know will help you move forward, not try to keep you stuck focusing on the problem.

2.  Look for the opportunities and resources.

Whatever problem you are facing, there’s a way out of it.  Don’t stay stuck focused on the problem.  Start looking for solutions.  Ask yourself: What will help me right now?  What can I do first to start moving toward solving this?

3.  Trust that it will work out.

Having faith is sometimes the most potent solution of all.  Trusting that everything will work out in your favor will open your eyes to possibilities you didn’t have access to when your focus was on the problem.

Love and light,

Melissa
